Super Robin Hood was probably the best of the Quattro Adventure NES games, and so it got ported to the usual popular home computers. Taking inspiration from FirstClassFootage's mash-ups, I decided to present three versions of the title song from three versions of the game--and as you'll see, it went through three name changes along the way! First it's Super Robin Hood on NES, then The Amazing Adventures of Robin Hood on ZX Spectrum, then Robin Hood Legend Quest on Commodore 64. Then I mix the Spectrum song with the C64 song, then the Spectrum song with the NES song, then the NES song with the C64 song, then finally all three together. Tell me if you have a favorite, or if you like any of the combinations!
Robin Hood Legend Quest also got a port to the Amstrad CPC, but I didn't think it would work well for this for a few reasons. I couldn't find an .AY file for it, and the emulators I tried made the music sound like crap. From what it sounds like, I think it's just a transfer of the Spectrum's music code, but pitched way up, so if I had to lower the pitch back down, it would probably just sound like a bad echo of the Spectrum version anyway. (It was hard enough just removing the pauses from the Spectrum music when the screen changes!) And a fourth song would lead to too many different combinations and make for too long a video. The ports to Amiga and Atari ST didn't even have this song; instead they used the song from the Spectrum and Commodore 64 versions of the original Super Robin Hood! But at least I worked their title screens into this video so you could see them.
And sorry that Windows Movie Maker introduced some stray pixels to the video output. The spinning stars from the ZX Spectrum's logo screen got messed up, with stars getting stuck in the middle! as similar to the music from that L Robin The Legends of Jazz Tribute Lionel Hampton You Came to My Rescue is known for the song.
If you could would return all years ago, or even years 8:14, everything in my life would be different.
