*This is my analysis of the video or interpretation.*
When I first saw this video knowing As I Lay Dying's Christian Belief beforehand, I immediately saw it as what the bible foretells in the end times. It is said in bible prophecy that in the end time the world will be under a one world government.
Now if you're wondering what makes me think the world in the video IS under a one world government I will tell you. The men that take the band to be executed some view as terrorists. This is not so. They are actually authorities of the time which they're living in.
What proves this? Tim makes a statement publicly on the radio. Directly after the host apologizes and says he does not share the bands opinions. When the band is taken there is no police called to notify of the abduction because these people are the ones currently in power.
On to the statement. Much speculation is stirring over what Tim actually said to be executed. I believe it to be a statement about Christ. My reason for it? The lyrics point it out. "In my convictions, i've found my own grave." Convictions mean 2 things. A belief that is unshakable that requires no proof or evidence (a belief in Christ) or a judgment of one being guilty of a crime. In the end time, a crime punishable by death will be accepting anyone as God other than the Beast that will be in power of the one world government.
What makes Tim make the statement? At the scene where it is said "Somethings up with Tim" the general expression on Tim's face is pain. There is something eating him up inside but the oppression of the time they're living in won't allow him to get it out. Thus his "need to say something". You know the statement he wants to make hold serious consequence by the rest of the bands reaction. They seem distressed after Tim tells them what needs to be said.
Why is it so important to make this statement? The bible says if you deny Jesus, he will also deny you to his father (God). This means if you deny him as your savior you're not accepting his gift in salvation thus when your body dies, so will your spirit in hell.
Further proof of this being a one world government also can be seen in the lyrics. The scripture says in the end time, there will be no higher or middle or even lower class. it will be masters and servants. the lyrics used are "So we stand alone, or join those who follow in misery" the ones following in misery are the general public that have conformed in fear of dying. They don't want to follow but they have to or they'll be put to death.
When they're taken to the execution site you see bodies of random people that have died before them. They are the ones who have "gone before them" in not denying their beliefs.
