This song is "Cogs in Cogs" from the album "The Power and the Glory," however, this live version is from the "Giant on the Box" DVD box set. It's my favorite version purely because of the energy behind it--and the different bridge section.
Ray Shulman's bass lines have always thrown me for a loop. I always thought they were weirdly constructed lines in scales I've never heard of. When I deciphered the sheet music for this I realized that it's a 'normal' scale... but with weird patterns and modes. I was very impressed and quite humbled by the fact that I could actually learn and perform this piece.
As always, a few hiccups here and there, but it's my best effort. And after 5 takes I finally got one I was satisfied with.
Same gear as the last couple, although I bypassed the Sansamp (which gives my Rick a clanky sound). I decided to leave it out of the chain to mimic Shulman's P-bass tone. I decided against using a pick (as Ray does) purely for ease of playing.
Legal mess:
The (barely audible) music in the background is not owned by me. It is property of its musicians, creators, label and distributor. as similar to the music from that D Jon Versitile So Throwed is known for the song.
If you could would return all years ago, or even years 3:23, everything in my life would be different. Could listen Gentle Giant - Cogs in Cogs (live) bass cover mp3 and D Jon Versitile So Throwed could be download only a pity that nothing could be used to download. Download mp3 music 3:23 years ago it was not possible, I think.
